SOMPO Himawari Life Insurance, Inc. (President and CEO: Yasuki Kume, hereinafter "the Company") is pleased to announce that the cumulative number of policies sold for "Cancer Insurance to Support Health: Courage Charm" (hereinafter "this Product"), launched on October 2, 2021, surpassed 1 million policies on June 26, 2026.

Furthermore, the "Quit Smoking☆Challenge! System" attached to this Product has contributed to the health promotion of many customers with 7,002 successful cases, receiving high praise and support from our customers (as of the end of May 2026).

1. Background and Objectives

The advent of the 100-year lifespan era and the declining birthrate and aging population have led to complex and long-term anxieties for people, ranging from health and long-term care to retirement funds and even life's end. In light of these societal changes, the Company aims to resolve three "discomforts" (※) related to health, long-term care, and retirement funds by providing a value chain that supports everything from "prediction" and "prevention" to "insurance," "prognosis/long-term care," and "life's end" (see Appendix 1).

This Product is a core offering driving "Insurhealth®," which combines insurance with health support functions. Since its launch, it has been supported by many customers, reaching 500,000 policies within two years of its release and steadily accumulating sales figures since then.

※ "Discomfort of Health": The gap between average life expectancy and healthy life expectancy. "Discomfort of Long-Term Care": The decrease in caregivers and the worsening gap between demand and supply for long-term care. "Discomfort of Retirement Funds": Challenges arising from the low percentage of people who can self-fund their retirement.

2. Contribution to Customer Health Promotion

<1> Quit Smoking☆Challenge! System

Individuals who have not smoked for the past year can apply for this Product at a more affordable premium. Furthermore, even for contracts where the applicant is a smoker and has been assigned the "Smoker Premium Rate," if the insured meets the Company's criteria, such as having no smoking history for over one year within a specified period after enrollment, the premium rate can be changed to the "Non-Smoker Premium Rate" through the "Quit Smoking☆Challenge! System." The number of successful cases in the "Quit Smoking☆Challenge! System" has exceeded 7,000 in total, contributing to the health promotion of many customers (as of the end of May 2026).

<2> Saliva Checker®

The number of users for "Saliva Checker®," provided by our partner SalivaTech Inc., has been increasing year by year.

"Saliva Checker®" is a cancer risk test that can be easily performed at home. It analyzes the concentration of metabolites in saliva with high precision and evaluates the current risk of developing cancer by analyzing the concentration and ratio of substances indicating abnormal cancer values using AI and other technologies.

By simply collecting saliva and mailing it to SalivaTech, it is possible to test for the risk of multiple cancers (5 types for men: lung, colorectal, pancreatic, oral, and stomach cancer. 6 types for women, adding breast cancer) with a single test, without causing physical or mental burden (see Appendix 2).

Additionally, as a follow-up system after the test, we provide a list of affiliated medical institutions in your vicinity where you can consult about your test results along with the results report.

We offer reasonable coverage that aligns with the realities of cancer treatment. Furthermore, we reduce the financial burden by supporting the latest cancer treatments such as private medical treatment for anticancer drugs and cancer genome profiling tests.

<3> System to Support "Review" of Coverage (Industry First at the Time of Launch)

In response to customer feedback such as "I want to review my coverage, but I'm worried about the temporary increase in premium burden," we have introduced a system where premiums are not incurred for the three months leading up to the start of coverage.
