HIOKI Launches ST5680A DC Hipot Insulation Tester for Global EV Battery Production Lines

HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION (Ueda, Nagano; President: Takahiro Okazawa) launched the 'DC Hipot Insulation Tester ST5680A' on June 2, 2026, targeting production lines for EV battery cells, modules, and packs.

The ST5680A complies with international safety standards including CE, UKCA, and CSA (NRTL). It features a built-in contact check function and 'Waveform Intelligence' for recording and analyzing voltage, leakage current, and insulation resistance waveforms. This allows for consistent safety evaluation across global manufacturing bases using a single model. Beyond mass production, it supports R&D design verification and material evaluation, contributing to the overall reliability of EV batteries.

Development Background With the expansion of EVs, ensuring battery safety through rigorous insulation testing has become critical. Global engineers face challenges such as varying regional standards, complex equipment setups for contact checking, and inefficient analysis caused by needing external oscilloscopes for waveform monitoring. HIOKI developed the ST5680A to integrate these essential functions into a single unit.
