Hitachi Solutions East Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; President: Takashi Marui) will begin offering the "AppSQUARE Enterprise Search Platform" as an option for the business application building platform "AppSQUARE" starting in July 2026.

This option is available to new customers implementing AppSQUARE as well as existing users who are already utilizing it.

Overview

While many companies have succeeded in digital transformation (DX) initiatives such as paperless operations and moving away from spreadsheets in recent years, the rapid application development for each business has created a new challenge of "data silos," where "data is confined to individual business applications."

To solve these challenges, we are providing the "AppSQUARE Enterprise Search Platform," which adopts a "data fabric" approach to flexibly connect and utilize data scattered within an organization, enabling unified data search across multiple applications on AppSQUARE.

This product aims to further improve corporate operational efficiency by enabling users to quickly find necessary business data from accumulated information and, by leveraging RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology in conjunction with generative AI, extract knowledge through conversational interaction, thereby reusing past knowledge.

Cross-search siloed data while utilizing existing information assets as they are

In addition to data within AppSQUARE, existing information assets scattered throughout the company, such as file servers, websites, databases, and groupware (e.g., SharePoint), can be targeted for search as they are. Without the effort of data migration or re-registration, users can access target data across multiple locations with a single search, regardless of where it is stored. High-speed search is possible even for large volumes of data, and it supports company-specific terminology and variations in notation.

"Generative AI Integration Option" Utilizing RAG Technology

By combining enterprise search with generative AI using RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology, users can inquire about internal information as if they were asking a person.

Key Points for Generative AI Utilization

No troublesome file uploads required

Since existing information in shared folders or the cloud is directly used as the search target, there is no need for data migration or file uploads to use generative AI.

Secure and Highly Accurate Response Generation:

Users can utilize internal information as it is, without the hassle of file uploads. Generative AI is used to generate responses using "only useful information" hit by highly accurate search results. Naturally, reference permissions for information are also considered, enabling secure operation.

Verification of Basis and In-depth Exploration through Dialogue

Users can verify the internal files that formed the basis of the generative AI's response, allowing for confident information utilization. Furthermore, additional questions can be asked repeatedly through the chat screen.

Secure Search Inheriting Access Permissions

Access permissions set in AppSQUARE are fully inherited by the search results. Only information that users have permission to view can be browsed, making it possible to safely conduct cross-searches and utilize information even in financial and public institutions that handle highly confidential data.

Two-Tier License Model Expandable According to Usage Needs

We offer a two-tier license model: a "Limited License" that lowers the barrier to adoption and allows for a small-scale start, and a "Cross-Search License" for future expansion. The Limited License allows for low-cost enhancement of data search within AppSQUARE, and by upgrading to the Cross-Search License, the search target can be expanded to vast internal information resources such as file servers, SharePoint, and websites.

Manufacturing

Smooth cross-search of defect reports, design documents, etc. Contributes to faster design reviews (DR) and improved quality by reusing past issues and knowledge.

Construction and Real Estate:

Cross-search of contracts, applications, etc., which tend to be scattered by property, by inputting tenant names, etc. Related documents can be instantly retrieved even if the person in charge changes, leading to improved efficiency in property management operations.

Future Outlook

We will evolve AppSQUARE from a platform that merely accumulates business processes into a "knowledge sharing platform" that integrates and reuses internal intellectual assets. In the future, we plan to deepen collaboration not only within AppSQUARE but also with other services, and we are considering offering the "Enterprise Search Platform" as a standalone product from fiscal year 2027 onwards, aiming to contribute to data utilization and operational efficiency for a wider range of customers.
