"The Irregular at Magic High School Special Edition" to be Released on June 12 [Sports Hochi]

Hochi Shimbun Co., Ltd. (President & Representative Director: Tsuyoshi Hasegawa), publisher of "Sports Hochi," will release "The Irregular at Magic High School Special Edition" from June 12 to commemorate the start of the second part of the anime adaptation of "The Irregular at Magic High School." It will be sold at anime shops nationwide such as Animate and Gamers, select bookstores, the physical store of the Hochi Entertainment Market on the 3rd floor of P'PARCO in Ikebukuro, and through the same market's mail order. It will also be available at goods shops in theaters currently showing the latest film, "The Irregular at Magic High School: The Yotsuba Succession Arc."

This work is based on the popular novel series by Tsutomu Satou (published by Dengeki Bunko). It depicts the story of Tatsuya, an older brother who is a defective magician, and his sister Miyuki, an excellent and beautiful honor student, both attending the so-called "Magic High School." Since the release of the first volume of the original novel in July 2011, it has enjoyed overwhelming popularity, and as of 2026, the total worldwide series circulation has exceeded 30 million copies. The first season of the TV anime aired in 2014, followed by the third season (52 episodes total), and in 2017, the film "The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Summons the Stars" was released. In 2021, the "Reminiscence Arc" was broadcast as a special anime. Since May 2026, the "Yotsuba Succession Arc," one of the most popular episodes in the original story, has been showing in theaters nationwide.

The original story is now entering its climax, and it has been announced that the anime project will also begin full-scale production for what can be called the "second part" of the series. Therefore, this special edition will highlight the appeal of "The Irregular at Magic High School" through interviews with Tatsuya Shiba's voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, Miyuki Shiba's voice actor Saori Hayami, original author Tsutomu Satou, original illustrator and anime character designer Kana Ishida, past editors-in-charge, and past anime producers. It also serves as an easy-to-understand guide for newcomers, reviewing the series in chronological order from the first TV anime season to the film "The Irregular at Magic High School: The Yotsuba Succession Arc."
