Panasonic Production Engineering Co., Ltd. will launch an exhibition and sales event for products made with 'kinari,' a sustainable material containing over 50% wood fiber, at Tsutaya Electronics Plus in Futako-Tamagawa, Tokyo, from June 26 to August 24, 2026.
This initiative aims to allow visitors to experience the material's unique appeal firsthand while gathering marketing data on market reactions and consumer needs. The insights will be used to expand product development beyond material sales and accelerate the social implementation of environmental value.
Tsutaya Electronics Plus is a next-generation showroom where visitors can experience unique products and services from around the world. During this exhibition, attendees can not only experience the texture and functionality of kinari but also purchase the products directly.
The main products on display are as follows:
- Lighting Fixture 'S-story Pendant' (Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd.)
This lighting fixture uses kinari for its shade, marking the first application of the material in home appliances that highlights its texture. It features a warm, natural feel derived from organic materials and a unique marble-like pattern formed during molding. When lit, soft light diffuses through the material, creating a gentle ambiance in any space (Figure 1).
- Cedar and Hinoki Planters
These are upcycled products made from wood waste and thinned timber. This initiative transforms regional resources across Japan into new value, aiming to achieve both effective utilization of local resources and reduction of environmental impact (Figure 2).
- Colored Bathroom Accessories (Keworld ism Co., Ltd.)
A range of bathroom products that achieve rich and diverse color variations by combining kinari’s high colorability with advanced molding technology. These products balance material texture with design sophistication, harmonizing gently with interior spaces and adding color and comfort to daily life (Figure 3).
Going forward, market data collected from this exhibition will be used to accelerate the expansion of kinari’s applications and product development. This effort will contribute to reducing environmental impact by decreasing reliance on petroleum-based resins and help realize a sustainable society.
