Kanan Town, Osaka and MK Kanko Bus Partner with Hyundai to Sign Cooperation Agreement for Disaster Power Support

Building a Public-Private Disaster Prevention Partnership

Hyundai Mobility Japan (hereinafter 'Hyundai'), along with Kanan Town, Minamikawachi District, Osaka Prefecture, and MK Kanko Bus Co., Ltd., has signed a 'Disaster Cooperation Agreement' aimed at strengthening cooperation and collaboration during natural disasters.

This agreement anticipates power outages caused by disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes. It aims to build a system that supports evacuation center operations and distributes power to those unable to return home by utilizing the V2L (Vehicle to Load) power supply function of Hyundai's electric vehicle, the 'IONIQ 5,' as an emergency power source.

### Disaster Support System Utilizing the 'IONIQ 5' EV

Under this agreement, Hyundai will donate one 'IONIQ 5' next-generation flagship EV to Kanan Town. The donated vehicle will be used as a municipal vehicle, for disaster prevention awareness projects, and for disaster drills during peacetime. During a disaster, the external power supply function will be used to provide power to evacuation centers, contributing to regional disaster prevention capabilities. In addition to the EV donated by Hyundai, Kanan Town will utilize its own EVs and EVs loaned by MK Kanko Bus to implement disaster response measures, including power supply to evacuation shelters.

### Division of Roles through Public-Private Partnership

In the event of a power outage due to a disaster, MK Kanko Bus will loan its electric bus, 'ELEC CITY TOWN,' free of charge at the town's request. It will also take on the role of providing power support to municipal vehicles and those unable to return home by utilizing charging facilities installed at designated offices.

### Agreement Signing and Vehicle Presentation Ceremony at Kanan Town Hall

On May 22, 2026, an agreement signing and presentation ceremony were held at Kanan Town Hall. At the ceremony, representatives of the three parties signed the agreement, and the vehicle keys for the 'IONIQ 5' were presented by Hyundai to Kanan Town.
