SCIENCE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President & CEO: Yasuhiro Mizukami, hereinafter "our company"), a next-generation infrastructure company aiming to solve social issues with fine bubble technology, has begun test operation of its cooling mist system "Non Wet Mist," a proprietary technology exhibited and operated at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion during last year's Expo, at the storefront of "Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch," operated by Kani Doraku Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, President: Hiroyuki Imazu, hereinafter "Kani Doraku"). This marks the first instance of this fine bubble technology being deployed in general living spaces after its advanced demonstration at Expo. We will begin the social implementation of next-generation infrastructure from Dotonbori, a representative tourist destination in Japan.

Development Background

Outdoor environments in summer are becoming increasingly harsh year by year. Amidst this, the introduction of "outdoor cooling mist" systems is spreading in commercial facilities, stations, and public spaces as a measure against heat.

However, conventional mist systems wet floors, merchandise, and fixtures, and also leave moisture on customers' skin and clothing. Consequently, there were cases where introduction was difficult in places that "cannot get wet," such as around precision equipment or on restaurant terraces, or in situations requiring consideration for individuals with sensitive skin.

To address these challenges, our company has applied its proprietary fine bubble technology, cultivated over many years, to develop the cooling mist system "Non Wet Mist," which has the characteristic of spraying water without wetting the surroundings.

Exhibition and Operation at Expo

A significant opportunity to verify this technology in practice was the Expo "Osaka Healthcare Pavilion." Our company exhibited and operated "Non Wet Mist" at the pavilion, welcoming visitors from around the world indoors and outdoors for the entire six months of the event.

As the Expo was held during a period of continuous extreme heat, many visitors stopped by seeking coolness. Being able to verify the "cooling without wetting" characteristic over a long period on the large stage of Expo, which attracted a diverse range of people from Japan and abroad, was a major step towards the social implementation of this technology.

Features of "Non Wet Mist"

1. Ultra-fine Mist x Ultra-Fine Bubbles

- Contains ultra-fine mist with a particle size of several μm, including ultra-fine bubbles of approximately 100 nm.

2. Vaporizes immediately after spraying, absorbing surrounding heat for cooling

- The volume of water droplets is extremely small, causing them to vaporize simultaneously with spraying.

- Without leaving moisture on skin, clothing, products, or fixtures, it absorbs heat from the surroundings during the vaporization process, providing a cooling effect.

Non Wet Mist

*Measurement Conditions

- Ambient temperature: 25°C - Measurement distance: 1.5m - Spraying time: 30 seconds

- Spraying distance: 50cm - Positional relationship: Directly below the nozzle

*At Expo, three units of the commercial robot "BellaBot Pro (Mist Specification)" equipped with "Non Wet Mist" were also exhibited and operated.

(Operation period: April 13, 2025 - October 1, 2025)

Test Introduction at "Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch"

The Dotonbori area in Osaka's Minami district is a premier spot in the Kansai region, attracting many tourists from Japan and abroad. During summer, heat countermeasures for customers spending time in front of stores and on the streets, such as while waiting in line, are crucial. As the first step in the social implementation of "Non Wet Mist," we have begun test operations at the storefront of "Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch," a landmark in Osaka's Dotonbori.

Test Introduction Overview

- Installation Location: Storefront of Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch (Address: 1-6-18 Dotonbori, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture)

- Test Operation Period: Ongoing

- Number of Units Installed: 5 nozzles

- Expected Effect: Reduction of perceived temperature for customers waiting in line and passersby in front of the store, improved heat countermeasures and comfort during their stay.

Future Development

Based on the operational data and customer feedback obtained from this test introduction, we will proceed with deployment in living spaces where conventional cooling mist systems have been difficult to introduce, including commercial stores in tourist areas, station premises, educational and childcare facilities, entrances and terrace seating of commercial facilities, and public spaces.

As symbolized by the Japan Meteorological Agency's establishment of the new forecast term "extreme heat day" (kokushobi) this year, heat countermeasures in Japan have become a critical social issue. Our company, aiming to solve social issues with fine bubble technology, will strive to contribute to their resolution from the perspective of heat countermeasures through the social implementation of "Non Wet Mist."

Comment: Mr. Hayashi, Store Manager, Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch

As a store representing Osaka's Minami district since our founding, Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch has welcomed many customers from Japan and abroad. Given the severe heat in recent years, heat countermeasures in front of our store during summer are considered one of the important forms of hospitality to ensure our customers have a comfortable experience.

SCIENCE's "Non Wet Mist" is an excellent technology that provides pleasant coolness without wetting merchandise or store fixtures, and we find its ability to achieve both comfort and a favorable store environment highly appealing. Through this initiative, we expect to provide our customers with a more comfortable time and add new value to the unique hospitality of Dotonbori Main Branch.

Comment: Masaki Hirai, Vice President, SCIENCE Co., Ltd.

Since our founding, our company has been engaged in research and development of fine bubble technology, addressing social issues in various fields such as healthcare, nursing care, industry, and agriculture, including our "Mirable" series. "Non Wet Mist" is an initiative that extends this technology to the field of heat countermeasures, and after its exhibition and operation at Expo, it has reached a new stage with the test introduction at "Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch." We are taking the first step in social implementation at the storefront of "Kani Doraku," a landmark of Osaka's Minami. Moving forward, we aim to establish this "Non Wet Mist" as the next standard for heat countermeasures, one of the global social issues.
