You come looking for someone to root for, but before you know it, you find yourself wanting to root for the place itself.

"Neo Snack Gao Nakano" is a neo-snack bar located in a back alley in Nakano, Tokyo, where a modest show unfolds every night. The interplay of light and shadow created by showtimes, including pole dancing, and the clinking of glasses and conversations at the counter, where the lingering atmosphere remains, gently paint the "continuation of each visitor's story."

The boundary between the stage and the audience is surprisingly close, yet never overbearing. When the show ends, the dancer who was just on stage is now sitting next to you, laughing. The relationship that was simply "customer" and "performer" transforms into a feeling of being a co-star for just one night, and this comfortable distance is precisely the "reason why this place is favored by someone."

▪️ Program Overview

"Karatechi Fukuryu One Night" is the first terrestrial TV program hosted by the comedy duo Karatechi and former AKB48 member Miho Fukutome, airing in the late-night variety slot "Barabara Monthly" (Challenge slot within Barabara Project) on TV Asahi.

A four-episode series airing every Monday from 26:45 to 27:05, it was conceived as an "Oshi-sagashi Variety" (favorite-finding variety show) that searches for new favorites by visiting "spots where you might find someone to root for," such as gyms, concept cafes, and snack bars.

"Neo Snack Gao Nakano" appeared in an episode themed "Searching for Favorites at a Next-Generation Snack Bar," and was introduced as an "experiential neo-snack" where one can enjoy pole dancing shows and interact with the cast.

The program first features the performers who manage the establishment as neo-snack cast members and also perform as dancers on stage. In the neon-lit interior, they welcome Karatechi, engaging in lighthearted conversation with the characteristic closeness of a snack bar – not too close, not too far.

The cast members, who liven up the tables one after another, are like a "first show" that warms up the night. Casual conversations flow naturally, and even before they take the stage, their individual "points that make you want to root for them" gradually come across to the viewers.

Then, the music changes, and the lights dim softly, transforming the atmosphere. From the moment the dancer, who was just laughing at the counter, slowly walks onto the stage, the "main act of the night" at "Neo Snack Gao Nakano" begins.

First, pole dancing is shown. The moment they grip the pole, their body lines begin to move smoothly, sometimes sharply, as if melting into the music. The circular trajectories drawn while spinning, and the three-dimensional movements connecting the floor to the pole and the pole to the air, are not just a series of techniques but like a single story spun by a dancer.

In the aerial pole show, Their movements, as they rotate and carve up the space vertically and horizontally while leaning their bodies on equipment suspended from the ceiling, are a "dance drawn in the air." The moments when they suddenly increase speed from a quiet pose, or the brief pause they take in mid-air, are depicted in a way that rivets the viewer's attention.

The dynamic dance show, lighting, costumes, and choreography unite to fill the stage. The lines of sparkling costumes catch the light, and the choreography formations expand to make the limited stage appear larger. Completely different from what one might imagine from the word "snack bar," it's a full-fledged show, culminating with the dancers, still in their dazzling costumes, descending to the audience to greet Karatechi's table.

Having expressed themselves wordlessly on stage, they now hold glasses and laugh about the show they just performed – this contrast is a scene that strongly impresses the charm of "close-proximity entertainment" unique to "Neo Snack Gao Nakano."

Karatechi also expressed their surprise and admiration for the gap between the performers' approachable demeanor and their professional stage presence, saying, "These cast members chat so casually, but when they get on stage, they're this professional." The program conveys to viewers how a night spent searching for a favorite can turn into a night of realizing "why I want to root for this place."

▪️ The Appeal of "Neo Snack Gao Nakano" Conveyed Through the Program

In the broadcast of "Karatechi Fukuryu One Night," Neo Snack Gao Nakano was depicted as a "next-generation neo-snack" that combines the intimate atmosphere of a snack bar with professional show production. Through the continuous flow of time where hearts gently open up through conversations with the cast, and the breathtaking stages created by pole dancing and dance shows within a single night, the two aspects of "a place to find someone to root for" and "a place where you can root for the establishment itself" are naturally presented.

"Neo Snack Gao Nakano" functions not only as a place to "encounter someone to root for" but also as an "experiential night spot that renews how you spend your evenings," presenting a new style of nightlife.
