To realize Society 5.0, building digital twins that integrate virtual and physical spaces is essential. However, spatial information is currently managed under varying specifications by different entities, making unified data search difficult. To address this, Spatial IDs serve to easily integrate, search, and circulate disparate spatial information. Supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the IPA Digital Architecture Design Center (DADC) has been promoting the utilization of 4D space-time information using Spatial IDs. The newly released 'Spatial ID Guideline Version 1.2' introduces the 'Polar Spatial ID' as an extended specification, enabling the use of Spatial IDs across the entire globe, including high-latitude polar regions like the Arctic and Antarctic. This expansion is expected to enhance data linkage and 4D space-time information utilization for digital twins worldwide, while driving efforts toward the international standardization of Spatial IDs.
