- Overview of IPOs in the First Half of 2026

In the first half of 2026, investor sentiment showed signs of improvement across global markets, driven by easing inflation concerns and expectations of gradual interest rate reductions. From January to May, several large emerging companies in AI and clean energy were listed on the US market, attracting attention. However, due to uncertainties such as the upcoming US presidential election in the fall and geopolitical risks, many companies appear to be cautiously assessing their listing timing, and the IPO market has not yet seen a full-scale recovery.

In Japan, the number of IPOs from January to June 8, 2026, remained roughly at the same level as the previous year. The beginning of the year saw a tough start, with the initial price of several stocks falling below the offering price from the first IPO of the year. Subsequently, as the Nikkei Stock Average showed a firm trend, the supply-demand environment gradually improved, and some small-cap IPOs with growth themes saw their initial prices soar. However, with Japanese long-term interest rates trending upward, the trend of "selective investment," where companies' business models and potential for stock price appreciation are calmly scrutinized, appears to be strengthening further.
