Ishii Food Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, Representative Director and Executive President: Tomoyasu Ishii, hereinafter 'Ishii Food'), which has been advancing product development with additive-free cooking※¹, has re-examined 'What is the Ishii way?' on the occasion of its 80th anniversary (2024).
The answer was the belief that 'Communities must be formed to protect primary industries.' We will newly establish an ESG model for Ishii Food, built up from the original role of a food processing manufacturer, intentionally different from the general ESG in society.
To promote this model, we have newly established an ESG Promotion Team directly under the President's Office in April 2025. 'Enter the region, send people, and take root together'—this is the beginning of employee dispatch to Kunneppu Town, Hokkaido from April 2025, as well as the implementation of regional economic circulation models and the holding of the Local Revitalization Food Business Research Meeting with the participation of seven municipalities. Ishii Food's steps to connect agriculture and the dining table are steadily expanding.

Re-examining 80 Years: The Answer is 'Community'
Since its founding in 1945, Ishii Food has upheld the corporate philosophy of 'Creating truly delicious products,' continuously challenging additive-free cooking※¹ and building thorough traceability, always questioning what a food processing manufacturer should truly be.
We are also engaged in general ESG activities such as CO2 reduction and improving labor conditions. However, when we pursued the role we should originally fulfill, the answer was the belief of 'Forming communities centered around primary industries.' The way of 'Procuring, processing, and selling' cannot solve the fundamental issues faced by producers. We are convinced that it is Ishii Food's unique value to proactively build communities that connect farmers, government, local businesses, and consumers.
▲ 'Ishii Food's ESG Model' Disclosed in the '2026 ISHII FOOD ESG REPORT'
This model is composed of six axes by combining the company's progress of 'Growing, Making, and Spreading' with three communities of 'Food, Area, and Business.' All ESG activities carried out by Ishii Food are systematically designed and operated by deeply linking to any of these unique six axes, serving as an unshakable guideline built up from the original role of a food processing manufacturer.
Uniqueness of Ishii Food's ESG Model
The 'Ishii Food's ESG Model' disclosed in the '2026 ISHII FOOD ESG REPORT' is not constructed from the starting point of reducing negative impacts by reducing CO2 emissions or correcting disparities as externally imposed challenges. Instead, it is built up from the company's own business domain, asking 'What can a food processing manufacturer originally do?'
Three Initiatives Under Ishii Food's ESG Model
1. Hokkaido Kunneppu Town: 'Enter the Region, Send People, and Take Root Together' (ESG Model Axis: Food Community, Business Community)
Ishii Food signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Kunneppu Town, Hokkaido, which is predicted to see its population halved by 2050, on April 9, 2025, and dispatched employees as regional revitalization entrepreneurs. We believe that going beyond the approach of 'only procuring' and entering the region, sending people, and taking root together is the essence of community formation. While engaging in the 6th industrialization of agriculture and regional branding, we plan to launch hamburgers using Kunneppu Town's onions in fiscal 2026.
2. Chiba Prefecture Organic Carrots × Local Brewery: Implementation of Regional Economic Circulation Model (ESG Model Axis: Growing, Making, Spreading, Food Community, Business Community)
Using unique technology, Ishii Food pasteurizes Chiba Prefecture's organic carrots, which were difficult to market due to size deficiencies and shape distortions, including the skin, and 'Kishimachi Brewery,' which also has its base in Chiba, finishes them into dressings, realizing economic circulation within the region. This circle connecting producers, regional businesses, and consumers embodies the vision of expanding it nationwide.
3. Local Revitalization Food Business Research Meeting: A Place for Learning and Co-creation with Seven Municipalities Gathering (ESG Model Axis: Business Community)
On January 22, 2026, we co-hosted the Local Revitalization Food Business Research Meeting with seven municipalities under the theme of 'Sharing the Same Aspirations.' As a practical venue for sharing and deriving solutions to issues faced by each region, it embodies the business community that Ishii Food aims for, connecting from primary to sixth industries with a single line.
What Changes When This Model Expands—Ishii Food's Vision for the Future
The ESG model of Ishii Food aims for a sustainable regional society where farmers, government, local businesses, and consumers move together as one.
One of these is the operation of Ishii Food's direct-operated community space 'Viridian' as a place to embody the ESG model, with the number of dining visitors increasing to approximately three times the previous year. Food donations to children's cafeterias (6,340 meals), factory tours (10,700 people), and food education activities are also continued as part of community formation.
Under ISHII VISION 2030 'A company that connects agriculture and the dining table and supports child-rearing,' we will continue to disseminate this model to society.
Ishii Food Company Profile
Ishii Food was founded in 1945 and began manufacturing miso paste the following year as a food company. With the corporate philosophy of 'Creating truly delicious products—for the body, mind, and future,' we manufacture and sell processed foods centered on additive-free cooking※ and domestically produced materials. In 2025, we celebrated our 80th anniversary and, with the same 'sincere product development' as then as our axis, we aim to further expand regionally co-created products. In the future, we will continue to deliver products that focus not only on deliciousness but also on safety and security, bringing smiles to our customers. ※ No food additives are used in our manufacturing process.
