Iwatec – Chopro Business Alliance Agreement Signed

Iwatec Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture; Representative Director: Koichiro Iwamoto; hereinafter "Iwatec") and Chopro Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture; Representative Director: Kenji Araki; hereinafter "Chopro") concluded a business alliance agreement on April 1, 2026, concerning the promotion and business development of renewable energy.

Background to the Business Alliance Agreement

In recent years, the impacts of climate change have become increasingly severe, and addressing them is an urgent issue. Amidst accelerating efforts towards achieving a decarbonized society, including the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Declaration, expanding the introduction of renewable energy, improving energy self-sufficiency, and ensuring disaster-resilient energy systems are becoming even more important for companies and local communities.

Iwatec has promoted the construction of a sustainable energy supply model through the development and design of renewable energy generation systems such as geothermal and solar, as well as renewable energy-derived hydrogen production facilities. Meanwhile, Chopro has developed community-based energy services, primarily focusing on retail sales of LP gas and electricity, establishing an energy supply system that supports daily life.

By integrating the respective strengths of both companies—"development and design technology" and "community-based energy services"—they believe they can significantly contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society and the improvement of regional sustainability, leading to this alliance.

Moving forward, both companies will provide technological information and know-how related to hydrogen, biogas, solar power, and storage batteries, contributing to the further dissemination and promotion of renewable energy in various regions, including Nagasaki Prefecture.

In 2015, in addition to full-scale entry into the renewable energy business including geothermal and biomass, it also entered the hydrogen and fuel cell business, positioning hydrogen as a central component of the new energy system.
