The JAF (Japan Automobile Federation) Shimane Branch (Branch Manager: Kenzo Nonomura) will hold a 'Car Inspection Workshop' at its office (Higashitsuda-cho, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture) from June 8th (Mon) to June 12th (Fri).

As the rainy season approaches, it is crucial to check the condition of your tires before heading out. In rainy weather, if the tire tread depth is insufficient, the tire cannot effectively drain water from the road surface, making it prone to slipping. Driving in such conditions can cause the vehicle to drift outward when turning, potentially leading to lane departure and serious accidents. Furthermore, braking on wet roads can result in longer-than-expected stopping distances. To mitigate these risks, JAF recommends regular tire maintenance.

About the 'Car Inspection Workshop'

In fiscal year 2025, the top reasons for JAF road service calls were 'dead battery' (1st) and 'tire trouble' (2nd). These two categories account for approximately 50% of calls nationwide and about 40% within Shimane Prefecture.

Many of these vehicle issues can be prevented through 'daily inspections.' For drivers who find it difficult to perform these checks themselves, JAF provides easy-to-understand, one-on-one advice on how to check the engine room and inspect tires.
