Japan Business Systems Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yukohikari Makita; hereinafter "JBS"; Securities Code: 5036) has launched a new service, "JBS AI & Data Governance Operations," today. The service is designed for enterprises facing the challenge of balancing accelerated AI adoption with the need for security. It enables organizations to accelerate AI utilization while visualizing and controlling risks related to data access and AI usage, all without halting ongoing AI initiatives.
This service is a managed offering that integrates the monitoring, remediation, and optimization of risks associated with data and AI arising from generative AI usage. Its key features include conducting risk assessments to understand the current state, designing and establishing governance policies and frameworks, and providing 24/7 monitoring and continuous improvement during the operational phase. The service comprehensively supports the implementation and operation of risk mitigation tools, as well as incident response in emergencies, thereby enabling effective governance by addressing risks from both data and AI perspectives.
Background of Development
The rapid proliferation of generative AI has significantly advanced business efficiency and data utilization in enterprises. At the same time, previously overlooked data security risks have come to light, and new risks related to AI management have emerged.
Generative AI has the characteristic of cross-referencing internal corporate data based on user permissions. As a result, inadequate access controls or lax data management can directly lead to information leakage. Additionally, the increasing use of shadow AI, inappropriate AI usage, and misconfigurations of AI agents are rapidly escalating management complexity and operational burden. For enterprises, the critical factor is no longer simply "whether AI is introduced," but rather "whether it can be safely and sustainably utilized." Recognizing the need to establish organizational governance that integrates and controls both "data" and "AI" as a unified entity, rather than managing them separately, JBS developed this service.
Service Overview
This service is effective across a wide range of phases, from companies considering generative AI adoption to those already actively utilizing it. By executing integrated governance that manages risks from both data and AI, and by providing continuous operational support, the service creates an environment where enterprises can confidently advance their AI utilization.
- Risk Visualization and Mitigation: Continuously detect and remediate risks through a governance foundation that integrates the management of data and AI. - Significant Reduction in Operational Burden: Achieve sophisticated risk mitigation with low operational load through managed operations, including 24/7 support. - Acceleration of AI Utilization: Eliminate stagnation in adoption considerations due to security concerns and establish a framework for safely leveraging AI.
In the data domain, the service leverages the Varonis Data Security Platform and Microsoft Purview to visualize the location of internal data and access rights. It identifies risks such as excessive permissions, inappropriate public exposure, and the exposure of sensitive information, supporting the maintenance of a secure data environment through continuous monitoring and remediation.
In the AI domain, the service utilizes Microsoft Agent 365 (hereinafter "Agent 365"), officially launched in May 2026, to monitor the usage of generative AI and the operation of AI agents. It detects and supports remediation for risks such as inappropriate prompt inputs, handling of sensitive information, configuration errors, and vulnerabilities. Furthermore, JBS will strengthen its support for AI domain operations and governance by leveraging future enhancements to Agent 365 and by adding and utilizing additional AI risk mitigation products.
For implementation, the service begins with a risk assessment to understand the current state and design governance policies and frameworks. It provides end-to-end support, from the implementation of Varonis products included with the service to post-implementation maintenance, risk analysis via MDDR (Managed Data Detection and Response), incident response, and forensics. It also implements continuous improvement through 24/7 monitoring and regular reviews and optimization performed by a dedicated support team.
Through this service, JBS aims to realize integrated governance of data and AI, supporting enterprises in safely and sustainably advancing their AI utilization.
