JCOM Co., Ltd. (J:COM, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and Representative Director: Yoichi Iwaki) has established a renewable energy procurement model tailored to the facility characteristics of each region nationwide, aiming to "achieve carbon neutrality by FY2030." This model is a decentralized procurement model that divides the national electricity demand into three regions: Hokkaido, Eastern Japan, and Western Japan, and optimizes procurement by combining partner businesses and procurement methods in each area.
In the Hokkaido region, procurement of renewable energy and other sources will begin in April 2026, and GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions in that region will be reduced by approximately 90% by FY2026.

Background and Objectives
The J:COM Group has set "Challenging the Realization of a Decarbonized Society" as a materiality (important issue) and aims to "achieve carbon neutrality" by making GHG emissions associated with business activities substantially zero by FY2030. The group is promoting initiatives along two axes: "Energy Saving Measures" and "Renewable Energy Measures." The majority of our company's GHG emissions are due to electricity consumption in the infrastructure laid out nationwide, such as headends and transmission lines. The challenge is to achieve carbon neutrality while continuing to provide stable services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In light of this, we have worked to build a decentralized procurement model that optimizes the characteristics of a broadcasting and telecommunications operator and demand forecasts for each region.
Overview of Procurement Model
Under this model, basic agreements have been concluded with partner businesses in each region (Hokkaido, Eastern Japan, and Western Japan) for the long term. By combining various methods such as physical PPA, virtual PPA, and renewable energy menus, we have realized a procurement scheme that balances supply stability with the assurance of environmental value, and can flexibly respond to electricity demand and price fluctuations.
With this, we plan to reduce GHG emissions from approximately 100,000 tons in FY2025 to virtually zero in FY2030.

Value Creation Through Local Production for Local Consumption
In the Hokkaido region, we have established a local production for local consumption model of renewable energy rooted in the region by introducing physical PPA using biogas power generation from April 2026. Biogas power generation is a resource-circulating power generation method that also contributes to odor control of compost and recycling into liquid fertilizer. By effectively utilizing regional resources and surplus electricity in urban areas, we contribute to a sustainable energy cycle. The generated electricity is primarily used for headends in Sapporo city.
<Methane gas is generated by fermenting compost for approximately 40 days> <The generated gas is used to operate the generator and generate electricity>
As a customer, J:COM will promote the switch to renewable energy and energy-saving measures in broadcasting/telecommunications equipment and offices. As a wholesale electricity provider, we will work to expand green menus and promote solar power generation and storage at customer homes, contributing to the resolution of social issues and the realization of a sustainable society through our business activities.
