Once again aligning with the Ministry of the Environment's Environmental Month in June, the Certified NPO Japan Committee, Vaccines for Children (hereinafter JCV), has launched the #CapAction campaign, enabling anyone to easily participate in environmental conservation and child vaccine support through social media posts.
By posting a photo or video featuring a plastic bottle cap on social media platforms (Instagram, X, Threads) with the hashtag #CapAction, each post translates into one dose of vaccine support through sponsor companies. In its fourth year, the campaign received 15,474 posts, meaning 15,474 children in JCV’s partner countries—Myanmar, Laos, Bhutan, and Vanuatu—will receive vaccines (※Implementation scheduled for end of 2026).
Since the inaugural campaign with 8,671 posts, participation has grown annually, significantly expanding awareness of bottle cap recycling via social media and support for children’s vaccination in developing countries. (Special website here)
【Over 5,000 posts in the final 5 days alone!】
This year’s #CapAction campaign once again gathered diverse posts—bottle cap art, pets playing with caps, AI-generated illustrations featuring caps—all contributing to vaccine support for children in developing nations. Especially during the final five days, enthusiasm surged across social platforms, with over 5,000 posts submitted. Thank you to everyone who participated and offered your warm support.
【How vaccines reach the children】
JCV collaborates with local UNICEF offices, ministries of health, doctors, and nurses to ensure vaccines are properly delivered and administered to children in each country. Each year, based on requests from national health ministries (in Myanmar, from the local UNICEF office), JCV converts donations into essential vaccines such as those for polio, measles, and tetanus, delivering them to children in partner countries through the following process.

【Child Vaccine Support through Bottle Cap Recycling】
In recent years, one of the major pillars of child vaccine support has been donations through plastic bottle cap collection. By collecting caps and handing them over to recycling partners or supermarkets affiliated with JCV, the caps are recycled—contributing to environmental conservation—and a portion of the sales revenue is donated to JCV to support vaccines for children in developing countries.
The idea that everyday discarded caps can contribute to dual social impact—vaccine support and environmental protection—has gained widespread support. Last year alone, cap collection efforts supported approximately 1.5 million doses of polio vaccine, accounting for 15% of JCV’s total donations. To further promote cap collection, JCV will continue to run this campaign.
