Exhibition Overview YUGEN Gallery FUKUOKA (Stage 1 Nishi-dori 4F, 2-1-4 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City) will host the special exhibition 'Yuki Nishimoto: Now' -2026- from June 13 (Sat) to July 15 (Wed), 2026.

The Trajectory of Sumi-e Artist Yuki Nishimoto Yuki Nishimoto is pioneering new possibilities for sumi-e by connecting contemporary art with international entertainment, pop culture, and traditional culture. His notable works include the 2019 Pokemon 'Rayquaza' mural in Shibuya and the opening of the 'Toyokawa Inari Yuki Nishimoto Museum' in 2025. This exhibition showcases approximately 20 pieces, including his signature dragons and other animals, alongside his work for the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival.

Hakata Gion Yamakasa Artwork Since 2016, Nishimoto has created the main visual for the 'Kazari Yamakasa Solaria,' part of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa, a designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Rather than merely tracing historical themes, he captures the energy inherent in the region and its people, transforming it into a narrative for contemporary life. This exhibition will also look back on this work through related products.

Exhibition Concept This exhibition explores the essence of sumi-e and signs of new expression. It creates an immersive atmosphere with high-definition giclée reproductions of archival works and videos of the creative process.
