J Orchestra (J Orchestra), under the auspices of the Consulate-General of Japan in New York, held an international performance on July 18, 2025, at Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium / 2,790 seats), known as the world's highest peak of classical music, and successfully concluded with enthusiastic standing ovations from a full house of audiences.
This performance was a rare case where an orchestra, mainly composed of medical professionals such as doctors, dentists, researchers, and medical personnel, demonstrated both high artistic quality and social significance on a global stage, attracting great attention from local media and cultural figures. "Empathy" played by Japanese medical professionals on the world's highest stage
J Orchestra is an orchestra composed of various professionals in medicine, dentistry, research, education, and other fields, active under the philosophy that "resonance and empathy born from music lead to social stability."
By integrating the scientific knowledge of medical professionals with the expressive power of musicians, the orchestra has gained high evaluations domestically and internationally not just as a performance group, but as a "model of social contribution through the integration of knowledge." The stage for this performance, Carnegie Hall, is a hallowed ground of classical music where top artists from around the world have performed. On this historic stage, an orchestra centered around Japanese medical professionals performed, filling the approximately 2,800-seat venue to capacity.
In the encore finale "Finlandia," cultural exchange beyond borders was realized through a collaboration with a choir from the Japanese community in New York. The venue was filled with deep emotion, and long-standing ovations continued after the performance.

Special performance with Yukiyo Nakamichi and Yuuki Sakamoto as the host
The conductor for this performance was Jyunzo Yanagisawa, who conducts peace concerts around the world and is internationally active.
For the piano solo, Yukiyo Nakamichi, a representative pianist from Japan, was invited to perform representative masterpieces of classical music such as Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73, Emperor," Dvorak's "Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, From the New World," and Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D major, Op. 39."
Additionally, the host was Yuuki Sakamoto, an actress based in the United States, who warmly and elegantly conducted the entire performance. Using both Japanese and English, she welcomed the attendees and created an atmosphere befitting an international performance connecting Japan and New York.

Not just performance. "Medical x Music" social contribution also implemented
At Isabella House, a senior facility with many Japanese residents in NYC, and the Japanese American Association (JAA), medical lectures and mini-concerts for Japanese residents were held as outreach activities. The lecture content included dementia, oral dysfunction, and locomotive syndrome.
The initiative to simultaneously hold music performances and medical information dissemination demonstrated the social value unique to a medical professional orchestra.
The following evaluations were received from cultural figures in New York.
"It is surprising that medical professionals have achieved such a high level of performance." "The collaboration with the choir was moving." "The audience included not only Japanese-Americans but also people from all over the world, including New Yorkers."
From the Japanese-American community in the U.S., the following welcoming voices were received.
"A new model of cultural exchange connecting Japan and New York." "It was surprising that the venue was full with a Japanese orchestra." "I was happy to reunite with Japanese residents who had become distant during the Corona period in the audience seats."
Executive Committee Chair Atsuhiro Miyazaki (Dentist) Comment
Preparation in parallel with my main medical practice was a continuous process of hitting walls and then encountering new ones. However, with the support of the desire to cheer on Japanese residents overseas who are working hard, I was able to overcome the difficulties and realize this project. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who cooperated with this project.
Next, a performance in Vienna, the city of music
J Orchestra plans to hold an international performance in Vienna, the holy land of classical music, in 2027.
Building on the success at Carnegie Hall, we will further promote the creation of new value by connecting medicine, culture, and international exchange.
