Setsunan University (President: Yasuyuki Kubo) has newly introduced an e-learning service that allows students to study anytime and anywhere to support their qualification acquisition. As more students have become interested in qualifications in recent years, they have created an environment where students can easily challenge themselves, in addition to traditional face-to-face support.

Increasing number of students interested in qualifications

In recent years, the employment environment surrounding students has become more sophisticated and diversified, and universities are required to provide more practical career support. Among these, acquiring qualifications is highly valued by companies as a means to objectively demonstrate students' expertise and motivation to learn.

Our university established the "Qualification Support Center" in 2012 to support qualification acquisition and preparation for civil service examinations. In addition, we have established a qualification and ability acquisition incentive system to support challenges from an economic perspective. Approximately 250 to 350 students take various courses offered by the center annually, with major courses including Microsoft Office Specialist Excel 365/Word 365, Bookkeeping proficiency test preparation, Real Estate Transaction Agent exam preparation, IT Passport, and civil service examination preparation.

While there are students with a high interest in qualifications, a certain number of students are unable to proceed with acquisition because they "don't know where to start" or find "attending an in-person course too daunting." Therefore, to provide an opportunity to start learning, we have decided to introduce an e-learning service that allows learning "anytime, anywhere" on smartphones and tablets. This is the first time a university has introduced the welfare service "Benefit Station" provided by Benefit One Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). Students can take e-learning courses in languages, PC skills, accounting, business manners, etc., for free by registering an account. By increasing the number of students motivated to acquire qualifications, we aim to strengthen career development support by increasing the utilization of the existing Qualification Support Center's specialized learning support and incentive system.
