"Future Utility" envisioned by generative AI and fashion. "TOKYO AI Fashion Week 2026" opens

"TOKYO AI Fashion Week 2026" is an event that showcases new creativity and expressions born from the fusion of generative AI and fashion. The theme for this event is "Future Utility". It questions the future form of clothing that combines functionality and aesthetics.

Workwear, uniforms, utility wear, and clothing for caregiving and disaster prevention. Japan possesses a unique functional beauty nurtured within daily life. By combining this sensibility—which strips away the unnecessary while embedding beauty in materials, structures, and gestures—with generative AI as a new creative partner, we propose new fashion expressions suitable for future lifestyles.

This time, through initiatives such as the fashion contest utilizing generative AI, seminars introducing the latest efforts, and hands-on experiences with generative AI, we will broadcast the future of fashion from multiple perspectives.

Call for ideas on new clothing that clothes our future lives

What this theme seeks is not merely futuristic visuals. It is the clothing of the future that combines functionality and beauty while closely aligning with daily activities such as working, moving, living, and protecting.

We welcome proposals from a wide range of perspectives, including workwear, utility wear, future uniforms, clothing adapted to urban and natural environments, and attire that supports caregiving and disaster prevention. How will Japanese aesthetic sensibilities—artisan culture, the wisdom of layering, sensitivity to materials, and meticulous attention to detail—be updated by generative AI? We invite new forms of practical beauty created through the co-creation of humans and AI from both domestic and international participants.
