The Japan Quality Assurance Organization (JQA), headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and led by President Hiroaki Ishii, has newly launched the "Adhesion and Bond Strength Testing for Repair Mortars" service in May 2026. This service is intended to confirm the quality and performance of repair mortars widely used in the field of repair and reinforcement of concrete structures.
In the sectional repair of concrete structures such as bridges and buildings, the adhesion and bond performance between the repair material and the existing concrete are extremely important. Insufficient performance in these areas can lead to peeling of the repaired section or early deterioration, potentially requiring re-repairs and reducing the safety of the structure.
Confirmation through this testing can prove that the repair material integrates sufficiently with the existing concrete and plays a crucial role.
【Test Specimen】A backing plate and steel jig are attached to a mortar substrate. The number of specimens required is 3 to 5 depending on the standard. 【Adhesion (Bond) Strength Test Status】Adhesion (bond) strength is confirmed by pulling the specimen upwards and downwards.
