The Japan RV Association (Chairman: Kenji Araki, Location: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Abbreviation: JRVA), Lawson, Inc., and Glory Corporation today announced that they will expand the trial operation of "RV Parks," vehicle camping facilities utilizing convenience store parking lots, which have been underway at Lawson stores in Chiba Prefecture, to Saitama, Shizuoka, and Aichi Prefectures starting July 17 (Fri.), with an approximate scale of 30 stores.
Convenience stores are considered highly useful as RV Parks due to their 24-hour restroom availability, the ability to purchase food and drinks at any time, and the sense of security provided by having staff present, in addition to their parking lots being open at night. For the past year, we have been conducting trial operations of RV Parks at seven Lawson stores in Chiba Prefecture. Through these trials, the facilities have been used by many people, demonstrating their utility as RV Parks, which has led to this area expansion.
Convenience stores are familiar to customers in their daily lives, such as for regular shopping, and these facilities can be easily used by those new to vehicle camping. The newly established RV Parks in Chiba, Saitama, Shizuoka, and Aichi Prefectures will begin accepting reservations on July 6 (Mon.), 2026, and will be available for use from July 17 (Fri.).

According to data released by the Japan RV Association (JRVA), the number of registered recreational vehicles in Japan has been increasing since the survey began in 2005, surpassing 100,000 units in 2016. It is projected to reach 173,000 units in 2025, an increase of approximately 10,000 units from the previous year, indicating the growing popularity of RV travel and vehicle camping.
Furthermore, with the increase in demand for recreational vehicles, the number of "RV Park" facilities has been growing since 2021. Since 2022, approximately 100 new RV Parks have been established annually, and there are currently over 670 RV Parks nationwide. This expansion of RV Parks across the country is creating an environment where vehicle camping can be enjoyed, making it easier for people to experience RV travel even in rural areas rich in tourism resources that are difficult to access by public transportation like trains and buses. With this expansion of convenience store RV Parks, we hope to provide more people with the opportunity to enjoy convenient and comfortable RV travel.
