Kawade Shobo Shinsha Co., Ltd. (Shinjuku, Tokyo; CEO: Yu Onodera) will release Akira Yoshimura's essay collection 'Jinsei no Kansatsu' (990 yen, tax included) under the Kawade Bunko label on June 8, 2026.
The new book, 'Jinsei no Kansatsu,' collects 69 selected essays in which Akira Yoshimura, a leading figure in documentary literature, captured daily discoveries, encounters during travels, and family scenes with his exceptional observational skills and concise prose.
His writing, which delves into human ways of life and aesthetics, has continued to evoke deep emotion across generations. The essay titled 'Time Flows Definitely,' featured in this book, depicts his harrowing near-death experience in his youth and is particularly moving to readers.

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Akira Yoshimura's passing, and next year will be the 100th anniversary of his birth.
His numerous masterpieces, including the novels 'Senkan Musashi,' 'Hiuma-arashi,' and 'Hagoku,' continue to be read across generations, and his works remain a topic of interest, with 'Yuki no Hana' being adapted into a film last year.

Won the Dazai Osamu Award in 1966 for 'Hoshi e no Tabi,' the Kikuchi Kan Award in 1973 for 'Senkan Musashi,' and the Yomiuri Literature Award in 1985 for 'Hagoku,' among numerous other honors. Passed away in July 2006.
