Kawai Musical Instruments Co., Ltd. will launch a concept exhibition themed 'A Place to Relax and Savor Craftsmanship' at the JR Hamamatsu Station Shinkansen Concourse Large Exhibition Area, starting July 15, 2026, for approximately one year.

Exhibition Concept

The exhibition features 'Cafe Kawai,' a booth designed around the motif of a coffee shop, offering a welcoming space where visitors to Hamamatsu Station can stop by casually and enjoy a moment of relaxation.

As the company approaches its 100th anniversary in 2027, Kawai has long been dedicated to enriching people's lives with music through piano craftsmanship, guided by its mission 'Making Life Resonate.' This exhibition expresses that vision by drawing inspiration from the timeless charm of coffee shops cherished across generations. We aim to provide a comforting musical experience not only for pianists but for all station visitors, creating a relaxed environment that naturally fosters familiarity with pianos and Kawai's craftsmanship.

※ 'Cafe Kawai' is a concept exhibition; no food or beverages will be served, and eating or drinking on-site is not permitted.

【About the Exhibition】

This is a space where visitors can enjoy a relaxed moment between journeys, listening to music. The booth incorporates Kawai's piano-making techniques and artisans' dedication throughout its design. Tables inspired by piano aesthetics are available—please take a break, enjoy conversations, and experience the charm of Kawai's craftsmanship.

On display at the stage is the KAWAI Professional Grand Piano GX Series 'GX-2.' Equipped with 'AURES AR2,' the piano delivers live performances via a soundboard speaker system on weekdays, creating a pleasant musical atmosphere. During weekends and holidays, it will be open as a street piano, allowing anyone to freely enjoy playing.

※ The displayed piano may be changed during the exhibition period.

The central table in the booth is crafted from the lid of a grand piano. The round table uses bird's eye maple wood, also used in Shigeru Kawai grand pianos, finished with mirror coating through advanced wood staining and painting techniques.

Additionally, a limited-edition original mug with exclusive design has been created to commemorate the 'Cafe Kawai' exhibition.

It will be available for a limited time on Kawai's official online shop.
