Biwako Hotel (located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, General Manager: Yoshiyoshi Maeda) is hosting a series of flower workshops titled "Enjoying the Scenery and Seasons of Lake Biwa," offering guests a refreshing escape through hands-on floral experiences.
The second session will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, featuring the creation of "hydroculture"—a soil-free method of growing plants. Participants will design their own green interior décor by freely combining colorful, environmentally conscious materials.
For this workshop, instructors from Kyoto’s historic florist "Chikiriyagarden" will guide guests in a creative session set against the majestic backdrop of Lake Biwa. The theme is hydroculture, where plants are placed in transparent glass containers and adorned with vibrant, customizable materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces. With simple steps, this workshop is beginner-friendly and ideal for children’s summer crafting activities. Completed works can be taken home and enjoyed as indoor greenery, offering families the joy of nurturing plants together. Join us in a bright, open space with panoramic windows overlooking Lake Biwa, and enjoy creating colorful artworks under the summer sky.
