TOKIUM Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kenichi Kurosaki; hereinafter "TOKIUM"), a provider of AI expense agents, is pleased to announce that DAIWA CYCLE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Suita City, Osaka Prefecture; President and CEO: Yoshio Wakamoto; hereinafter "DAIWA CYCLE") has introduced TOKIUM AI Expense Approval.
Background
DAIWA CYCLE is a bicycle specialty store chain with 157 stores (as of the end of June 2026), primarily in Osaka Prefecture. With the expansion of its store network, the number of expense applications handled by the accounting department has continued to increase. Over 1,000 applications are generated each month, and accounting staff spend a significant amount of time on confirmation and rejection.
Reason for Selection
TOKIUM AI Expense Approval automatically performs the initial check and rejection of application details in accordance with regulations. The ability to significantly reduce the man-hours spent on confirmation and rejection was the deciding factor for its adoption.
Furthermore, it was highly regarded that the AI could be seamlessly integrated into the approval workflow of the already implemented TOKIUM Expense Settlement system, allowing for immediate use without system replacement or additional configuration.
Comment from Mr. Yoshihiro Kawashima, Manager of the Accounting Department, DAIWA CYCLE Co., Ltd.
Previously, accounting staff had to check the details of each application, provide initial approval if there were no discrepancies, or reject it if there were. The number of such cases and the associated effort were accumulating. While the introduction of TOKIUM Expense Settlement significantly reduced application errors related to transportation expenses such as public transport, the confirmation workload remained, and we were looking for ways to further reduce it. By introducing TOKIUM AI Expense Approval, applications without discrepancies are automatically given initial approval, greatly reducing the confirmation workload for accounting staff. In the two months since its introduction, we have already reduced man-hours by over 18 hours per month, and we anticipate an annual reduction of approximately 220 hours. We have also been able to reduce overtime without increasing staff, and we intend to continue working on improving the efficiency of accounting operations using AI.
