EMS Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Miya Hoshi), a provider of the asbestos management system 'Asbestos ONE,' has announced a major update to its industrial waste management cloud, 'Sanpai Cloud ONE.' The update introduces seven new features, including electronic contracting, facility inspection checklists, self-transportation recording, and vehicle batch registration. These enhancements aim to reduce the operational burden on waste generators and processors while raising compliance standards and environmental awareness across society.
Japan's Industrial Waste Problem: Hidden Risks Threatening Companies and the Environment Proper treatment of industrial waste is a critical social responsibility. According to the Ministry of the Environment's report on industrial waste discharge and treatment, approximately 367.25 million tons of industrial waste are discharged annually in Japan. Improper disposal and illegal dumping remain persistent issues. Without proper management of permits, entrustment contracts, and manifests under the Waste Management Act, companies face risks that lead to severe environmental damage.
Seven Newly Added Features Through this update, 'Sanpai Cloud ONE' enables comprehensive compliance management and operational efficiency:
1. Electronic Contracting Feature Allows electronic signing of waste disposal entrustment contracts. This eliminates the need for postal exchanges, reduces time and labor, saves stamp duties, and minimizes the risk of losing physical contracts through automated central management.
2. 'Self-Transportation Management' Feature Records and manages the movement of industrial waste, business-related general waste, and valuables between internal company sites—data not captured by electronic manifests (JWNET). It also supports issuing necessary mobile documents.
3. New Detailed Screens for Discharge Sites Displays JWNET collection reports linked with 'self-transportation' records for each site, allowing centralized management of all inflows and outflows.
4. CO2 Emissions Coefficient Management Manages CO2 emissions associated with waste based on collection report data, supporting corporate ESG reporting and Scope 3 compliance.
5. Facility Inspection Feature Supports 'on-site facility verification' (a duty of effort under waste management law), enabling the creation of digital checklists and uploading photo-backed records for audit trails.
6. Improved Processor List Display Refreshed interface for clearer management and visualization of collectors and disposal contractors.
7. Vehicle-specific Permit Authority Linking (For Processors) Manages permits by municipality for each vehicle, enhancing vehicle management precision and strengthening the waste treatment system.
Value Brought to Society 01 Guaranteed Fulfillment of Corporate Compliance Responsibility The system prevents delays in responding to legal amendments and administrative errors through centralized management of permits, contracts, and manifests, supported by automated alerts. 02 Significant Reduction of Operational Burden
