Kurimitsuki Made with Chestnuts from Gifu Prefecture

Takachiho Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture) will launch 'Kurimitsuki,' a chestnut yubeshi made with chestnuts from Gifu Prefecture, starting Thursday, July 16, 2026.

This new product will be sold primarily at service and parking areas along the route connecting Shinshu and Gifu, including Achi Parking Area, Misaka Parking Area, and Enakyo Service Area. Featuring a chewy texture and a rich chestnut flavor that intensifies with each bite, it is positioned as a new souvenir to enhance the travel experience.

Using Premium Chestnuts from Gifu Prefecture

Chestnuts from Gifu Prefecture are cultivated in a rich natural environment with significant day-night temperature differences. This slow growth allows them to accumulate sugar gradually, resulting in a deep sweetness and rich flavor. Gifu is also known as a production area for 'kuri-kinton,' a famous chestnut confection, and has a long-standing chestnut culture.

This product uses Gifu chestnuts to preserve their natural rich flavor and delicate sweetness. Enjoy the chewy texture of yubeshi alongside the deep, expanding chestnut taste with every bite.

Aiming for a Souvenir 'Only Available Here'

The idea for this product came from a desire to offer a unique souvenir 'only available here' at service and parking areas along the expressway connecting Shinshu and Gifu.

With many similar products already available at souvenir shops, the company spent about six months developing a product that travelers would instinctively want to pick up—a memorable item that stands out.

The lineup includes single-serving sizes (one piece) as well as three-piece and six-piece packs, ideal for sharing as souvenirs, catering to various occasions.

A Chestnut Confection Enjoyable Year-Round

While chestnut sweets are often associated with autumn, 'Kurimitsuki' is designed to be enjoyed throughout the year. To achieve this, the packaging deliberately avoids autumn-themed designs, making it appealing and accessible regardless of the season.

Additionally, each piece is individually wrapped in oblatum, reducing mess and preventing the mochi-like pieces from sticking together. This makes the product convenient to enjoy in various settings—inside a car during travel, during breaks, or at the office.

Creating Travel Memories Through Store Displays

In conjunction with the launch, the product will be prominently displayed at key locations in Achi PA, Misaka PA, and Enakyo SA.

By using dedicated display fixtures, the company aims to create eye-catching store setups that attract travelers and effectively communicate the charm of 'Kurimitsuki.'

Expanding into a New Product Series from 'Kurimitsuki'

'Kurimitsuki' is the first product in a new brand created as a souvenir for travelers journeying between Shinshu and Gifu.

Future plans include launching additional products under the same design concept, aiming to establish a beloved regional souvenir brand unique to this area.
