The collaborative track 'CAN YOU CELEBRATE?' by t-Ace and Tetsuya Komuro will be digitally released on Friday, July 17, 2026, with the simultaneous premiere of its music video (MV).

This new work boldly samples Namie Amuro's timeless classic 'CAN YOU CELEBRATE?'. Komuro, who composed and wrote the original, contributes piano performance and appears in the MV, fusing his artistry with t-Ace's authentic lyrics. The result is a modern answer to the 'KOMURO SOUND'—a song that reconnects across generations.

Production Background: A Song Born on Christmas Night, December 25, 2025

The project began on Christmas night, December 25, 2025.

It started as a 'men's Christmas party' between t-Ace and Tetsuya Komuro at Komuro's studio.

As they shared drinks, Komuro casually walked over to the piano and said,

'If I were to arrange this now, it would sound like this,'

then improvised a live rendition of 'CAN YOU CELEBRATE?'.

Deeply moved by Komuro's spontaneous piano arrangement, t-Ace immediately began crafting a demo.

When Komuro later heard the demo, he remarked,

'This feels like a good omen,'

and further contributed new piano arrangements, performance ideas, and violin concepts, shaping the final track.

From a one-time improvised piano performance on Christmas night, this legendary Japanese pop song has been reimagined—through Komuro's current sensibility and t-Ace's raw lyrics—into a new work that transcends time.

Production Background: Ongoing Collaboration from Previous Projects

This project builds on t-Ace's 2019 sampling of Namie Amuro's 'SWEET 19 BLUES' in his track 'Sweet 19 Blues ~Ore ni wa Tooi~'. The release of that track initiated ongoing communication with rights holders and stakeholders. 'CAN YOU CELEBRATE?' is the natural evolution of those relationships, built on mutual understanding and collaboration.

Added to this was the trust developed between t-Ace and Komuro through their 2025 collaboration on 'WOW WAR TONIGHT'. This trust transformed the initial idea into a fully realized creative project.

Throughout production, deep respect for the original song's legacy and artistic value was maintained, with careful coordination among all parties. Rather than simply quoting the original, the team meticulously crafted a new piece that integrates Amuro's vocals, Komuro's present-day artistry, and t-Ace's lyrical voice.

This track adds new value to a classic and passes it to the next generation—a special sampling work made possible only through years of relationship-building.

Lyrical Theme: A Modern Answer to a Glamorous 'Song of Celebration'

t-Ace's lyrics serve as a contemporary response to the original song, long known as a wedding anthem.

In an era where more people choose not to marry—or cannot—t-Ace channels his personal reality into rap. He portrays emotional awkwardness in love, difficulty believing in forever, yet still searching for love somewhere. The track captures the current mood: while the original evokes celebration, this version reveals the honest feelings of those living in an 'uncelebratable' age, creating new meaning.

Sampling: Preserving the Original's Essence for Today

Sampling is a creative technique that uses parts of existing songs to build new tracks with fresh instrumentation and lyrics. While common in Western hip-hop, it remains rare in Japan.

This track uses Namie Amuro's original vocals directly, layering them with Komuro's newly arranged piano and instrumental track, plus t-Ace's rap. The result is a sound that preserves the classic's charm while reinterpreting it with modern sensibilities.
