Hidehisa NAKATA x Muneyuki KANESHIRO Interview in Weekly Shonen Magazine!!
An interview between Hidehisa NAKATA and Muneyuki KANESHIRO will be realized in the 29th issue of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" released on June 17, 2026!!
Hidehisa NAKATA, a legend in Japanese soccer who contributed to Japan's participation in three consecutive World Cups. He is actually a big manga fan, and Muneyuki KANESHIRO, the original author of "Blue Lock," will interview him! We will delve into NAKATA's passionate "egoism" conveyed through manga, soccer, and life!!
Here's a sneak peek at the content of the anticipated interview!!
KANESHIRO: Thank you for today. I'm a huge fan of yours, Mr. NAKATA, so I'm very happy to meet you like this.
NAKATA: Thank you. I didn't realize it because the art style differs in each work, but I've been reading many of your works for a long time.
KANESHIRO: That's incredibly flattering! Thank you.
NAKATA: For example, in "As the Gods Will," I used to wonder, "What is this person thinking when they draw?" (laughs). Then, when I read "Blue Lock," it was filled with content about fundamental human desires. I felt that "living" might be KANESHIRO's theme.
KANESHIRO: We could end the interview right here! I'm truly that happy (laughs).
NAKATA: But why did you choose soccer as the subject matter?
KANESHIRO: I originally liked watching soccer. I got hooked on soccer after watching the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, when you, Mr. NAKATA, were playing. It's a sport with a power to attract people, and it's a big sport, which I love.
NAKATA: So you had a background in it. I love manga. I started reading weekly manga magazines around the age of 10. Since then, I haven't missed a single week and have been reading them continuously.
KANESHIRO: Really, even now?
...Check out the June 17th issue of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" No. 29 for the continuation of the long interview!
