The Japan Literature Promotion Association has announced the nominees for the 175th Akutagawa Ryunosuke Prize and the Naoki Sanjugo Prize, with two works from Kodansha receiving nominations.

[175th Akutagawa Prize] Chito Kosagawa: 'Zombie Kaishu-fu' (Published in 'Gunzo', May 2026 issue / Release scheduled for July 9, 2026) Synopsis: After losing her job in a world eroded by AI and her husband's disappearance, the protagonist puts on a VR headset and finds herself working as a cleaning woman in a hotel infested with zombies.

[175th Naoki Prize] Yuu Nagira: 'Taryu Konintan' (Published by Kodansha on May 27, 2026 / Price: 1,900 JPY excluding tax) Synopsis: 27-year-old Ritsu Sasaki and his fiancée Akari are about to register their marriage. This story explores their struggle to live together amidst conflicts of values, including sexuality, gender, and generational gaps.

The selection meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM at Shinkiraku in Tsukiji.
