Three years after its first distillation on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Komoro Distillery is pleased to announce the launch of its single malt "KOMORO ORIGIN," available in limited quantities starting Saturday, November 7, 2026.

On Friday, November 6, the day before the release, a commemorative event "KOMORO = KANPAI" will be held to celebrate the birth of "KOMORO ORIGIN" with fans from Japan and abroad, featuring a special talk show.

Through our advance reservation sales, we have received great anticipation for KOMORO from many of you. "KOMORO ORIGIN" is a culmination of the three years of whisky-making journey that Komoro Distillery has undertaken, while engaging with the nature, water, and climate of the Asama mountain range. The name "ORIGIN" embodies our aspiration for this whisky to be the starting point of KOMORO and the first step in a new journey that is about to begin.

Komoro Distillery is located at an altitude of approximately 910 meters, nestled in the nature of the Asama mountain range.

Clear air, the temperature difference between seasons, pure water, and the quiet time flowing at the foot of the mountains. The environment of Komoro gradually imparts character to the maturing new make spirit as it changes daily.

Komoro Distillery has grappled with the question of how to reflect the unique character of this land in a glass of whisky. Not only by entrusting ourselves to the power of nature, but by meticulously pursuing the unique character of KOMORO, born from the convergence of the Komoro environment and the distillers' skills, through the careful accumulation of each process: fermentation, distillation, maturation, and quality control.

"KOMORO ORIGIN" is born as a whisky that reflects the land of Komoro and the time spent there.

About "KOMORO = KANPAI"

"KOMORO = KANPAI," to be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, is a participatory ceremony designed to ensure that the birth of KOMORO ORIGIN is not confined solely within the distillery.

We will share the same moment and celebrate its birth together with fans who have eagerly awaited KOMORO, at Komoro Distillery, in the town of Komoro, and in their respective locations both domestically and internationally.

On the day, we will share with the participants the distillery's journey so far, the aspirations behind "KOMORO ORIGIN," and the upcoming story of KOMORO, along with a special talk show.

KOMORO FIRST RELEASE WEEK

To coincide with the release of "KOMORO ORIGIN," Komoro Distillery will host a week-long festival, "KOMORO FIRST RELEASE WEEK," starting Saturday, November 7, 2026.

During this period, in collaboration with facilities and shops within Komoro City, we will offer a variety of events to celebrate the birth of "KOMORO ORIGIN," including tastings, food pairings, city walks, and local experiences, in addition to special programs at Komoro Distillery.

This week will transform not only the distillery but the entire town of Komoro into a stage. It is a time to experience the beginning of KOMORO by visiting Komoro, meeting local people, savoring the food, walking through the town, and staying, all inspired by the new whisky born in the Asama mountain range.

Komoro Distillery's Craftsmanship

Komoro Distillery began its first distillation on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Leading the production is Master Blender/Distiller Ian Chang. Based on the philosophy established by the late Dr. Jim Swan, respect for nature, a scientific perspective, and a sensibility backed by years of experience, he and his team are pursuing the unique character of whisky that can only be born in Komoro.

Since the start of operations, we have nurtured KOMORO's characteristic aroma, flavor, and finish by observing daily changes in all processes: fermentation, distillation, maturation, and quality control.

"KOMORO ORIGIN" is not only the culmination of that journey but also the first bottle under the name KOMORO to embark on its path as a single malt Japanese whisky.
