The General Incorporated Association for Restaurant Management in the Coming Era (Koremane), as part of its practical career education initiatives at Koshien University, held a special class in collaboration with Mynavi Corporation and Restaurant Bank Co., Ltd., focusing on the hiring challenges faced by local companies.

This initiative aims to enable students to develop problem-solving and proposal skills by engaging with actual corporate issues, based on Koremane's philosophy of "Education that Connects Learning and the Field."

Background: Deepening Labor Shortage in the Food Service Industry and the Need for Practical Career Education

In recent years, the food service and hospitality industries have faced a chronic labor shortage, with recruitment activities becoming a critical management issue, especially for local companies. Meanwhile, in higher education, the importance of practical learning opportunities that address real social issues, beyond just theoretical knowledge and skills, is increasing.

Therefore, Koremane acted as a bridge, facilitating a four-party collaboration between Koshien University and the participating companies to plan and implement a practical class aimed at realistically solving the "hiring challenges of local companies."

Class Overview: From Job Posting Analysis to Poster Creation and Professional Presentation

After receiving input on the latest recruitment market trends and the actual hiring challenges faced by businesses, students engaged in the following activities:

Analysis of job posting drafts

Extraction of issues from the job seeker's perspective

Reconstruction of job posting content

Creation of recruitment posters

Presentation

The proposals developed through repeated dialogue with company representatives and experts were of a high standard, immediately applicable to actual recruitment activities. The proposal selected as the most outstanding will be implemented in the company's recruitment efforts at its actual stores.

The Form of Koremane's "Co-creation Education Model"

Our association has supported numerous restaurant owners and site managers in education and system implementation. Through this work, we are convinced of the importance of a system that seamlessly connects "what is learned in educational institutions," "what companies seek," and "the skills needed in society."

This initiative goes beyond a mere one-off class report. It has the potential to lead future food business department concepts and joint projects with companies, serving as a "co-creation education model" where students confront corporate challenges, companies gain real insights from students' perspectives, and the entire region fosters human resources for the food business.

Comment from Hiroshi Yamakawa, Representative Director and Koshien University Activation Producer

"This initiative provided an opportunity not only for students to learn about corporate challenges but also for the companies to gain new insights from the students' perspectives. I believe we are entering an era where educational institutions and companies do not nurture talent independently but learn and grow together. Koremane will continue to promote practical food business education through industry-academia collaboration and work to create new learning spaces that connect students, schools, and companies."
