Kyoto Research Park Co., Ltd. (President and CEO Mitsuo Asano, hereinafter KRP) will host the "Delicious Picture Book Making Experience" by picture book author Yuka Kikuchi starting July 25, 2026, as part of "KRP Fest 2026".

KRP will hold "KRP Fest 2026" over two days, July 24 (Fri.) and 25 (Sat.). With the themes of "Technology," "Town," and "People," approximately 25 diverse events will be held concurrently, including programs to promote exchange among researchers and engineers from companies and institutions located in the KRP district, events for entrepreneurs and startups, and projects to enjoy art and culture.

About the Event

Would you like to create a one-of-a-kind picture book that will be a summer vacation memory?

The "Delicious Picture Book Workshop" is an experience where participants create original picture books featuring beloved foods like hamburgers, onigiri, tamagoyaki, and curry as the main characters.

What will be completed in this workshop is a unique original picture book, one of a kind in the world. Instead of imitating someone else's work, children will shape their own imagined stories into a picture book.

The unique stories born from each child's imagination are all different.

Furthermore, using a child's favorite food as a starting point, participants will engage in food education while enjoying conversations and creating their work as a family. The picture book isn't just about finishing the creation; it includes a recipe page, incorporating a feature that allows them to recall and recreate "our family's taste" even when they grow up.

The completed picture book can be used for summer vacation free research or assignments, becoming a treasure that passes down family memories and stories to the future.

This is a time to discover your family's story together with your children, while touching upon their rich imagination and creativity, sparked by their favorite foods. We offer a special moment for parents and children to create a "delicious picture book" together.

About Picture Book Author Yuka Kikuchi

A picture book author whose work is themed around "Every individual's life has value."

She creates custom picture books that preserve family memories and life stories, and holds picture book workshops enjoyable for all ages, from children to adults, across various locations.

The inspiration for her work came when she wanted to eat the salt caramel her mother made when she was little again, but had forgotten the recipe. This experience led her to think about preserving family memories and stories related to food for the future.

This workshop was born through encounters with individuals active from the perspectives of "food education" and "sustainable living." It is an activity that connects family stories to the future through the creation of one-of-a-kind picture books that pass down family stories to the future, by having parents and children weave stories together while conversing, using their favorite foods as an entry point.
