About Kyoto Cuisine Museum 'Ajiwai-kan'

https://www.kyo-ajiwaikan.com/about/#institution

<Purpose of Establishment>

The 'Kyoto Cuisine Museum Ajiwai-kan' has been established at the Kyoto City Central Market, a treasure trove of ingredients, to allow visitors to experience the splendor of traditional and creative Kyoto cuisine and to revitalize the market and the surrounding area. By making full use of ingredients from the Kyoto City Central Market, we aim to connect people with healthy eating habits at home and family interaction by familiarizing them with and experiencing food culture such as traditional Kyoto cooking methods. By promoting this initiative not only to citizens but also to tourists, we aim to promote the spread and awareness of Washoku (Kyoto cuisine), which has been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and to revitalize the market and surrounding areas. Positioning Ajiwai-kan as a collaborative facility between the prefecture and the city, we cooperate with Kyoto Prefecture to communicate the importance of the market, which stably supplies safe and secure fresh food, and the importance of food education, and to expand demand for Kyoto agricultural and marine products.
