Kyoto University of Foreign Studies will hold the rare book exhibition 'Chronicles of Liberty: Chronicles of 250 Years of America' on its campus from June 5 to June 14, 2026, featuring valuable materials from its library and the Kyoto Prefectural Library. This exhibition is a special project commemorating the 250th anniversary of the 1776 Declaration of Independence. The exhibition will be held in a special venue on the 6th floor of Building 4, showcasing about 60 items. It is a rare opportunity to see handwritten letters by George Washington and first editions by masters of American literature. Planned exhibits include Mark Twain's 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,' Ernest Hemingway's 'A Farewell to Arms,' and Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Bells and Other Poems.' Admission is free.
