10th "Kyoto Crafts Exhibition DIALOGUE" to be Held at Hotel Kanra Kyoto in March 2027!

"DIALOGUE" (organized by the "KYOTO KOUGEI WEEK" Executive Committee), which began in 2018, is an exhibition and sales event that introduces craft and handmade artisans, using guest rooms and restaurants at Hotel Kanra Kyoto (Location: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City; Operation: UDS Ltd.) as exhibition spaces.

This 10th anniversary event will be held for four days from March 10 (Wed) to March 13 (Sat), 2027. In conjunction with this, we will begin accepting applications from exhibitors engaged in diverse manufacturing backgrounds from across the country starting September 1, 2026 (Tue).

| Event Overview

Ten years have significantly changed the landscape surrounding crafts.

DIALOGUE began as a platform for small workshops and community-based manufacturing to take their next challenge. As artisans from across the country gather in Kyoto to converse and forge new connections, numerous brands and projects have been born here, fostering relationships that transcend regions and industries.

Today, crafts are attracting new attention both domestically and internationally, not just as beautiful techniques and products, but as activities that connect relationships with nature, cultures inherited by regions, and the collaboration of diverse people to the future. This is also a movement that re-examines and questions society about the value of manufacturing as an "industry that nurtures culture" remaining in various parts of Japan.

The 10th DIALOGUE is not only a milestone to look back on our journey so far but also the beginning of a new dialogue to re-examine the possibilities of future manufacturing.

| A Unique Exhibition Where Hotel Guest Rooms Become Exhibition Spaces

DIALOGUE uses hotel guest rooms as exhibition spaces, where artisans set up their rooms to convey their manufacturing philosophy themselves. This is the highlight of DIALOGUE, and many buyers and customers interested in manufacturing visit every year.

| About "Hotel Kanra Kyoto," the Main Venue

Opened in the fall of 2010, this facility was converted from a 23-year-old educational facility located north of Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.

The guest rooms feature a "Machiya Style" design, a modern interpretation of Kyoto's traditional townhouse architectural style, characterized by their narrow layout.

It is a hotel that evokes a Japanese atmosphere, with tatami spaces and cypress bathtubs in the guest rooms, and the use of traditional crafts for room furnishings and in the restaurant.

| What is KYOTO KOUGEI WEEK?

"KYOTO KOUGEI WEEK" is a Kyoto Prefecture project aimed at fostering deeper mutual exchange by bringing together people from around the world in Kyoto to discuss "traditional culture," "craftsmanship techniques," "sales channels and distribution," and more.

This year, we will hold programs such as the exhibition and sales event "DIALOGUE," which uses hotel guest rooms as exhibition spaces, and talk events related to "KOUGEI" in the spring of 2027.

Additionally, we provide year-round support for artisans, including assistance in developing sales channels for Kyoto artisans based at "KYOTO HOUSE" in Shanghai for the Chinese market, and business development utilizing "KOUGEI" materials.
