[LaBeille Beekeeping Farm Scene] March: Beekeeping Season Starts In late March, at the LaBeille beekeeping farm in Takaosanguchi, the bees that had been waiting patiently in their hives for spring to come after the cold winter finally started to become active. The beekeeping team, known as internal inspection, opens each hive to check the health of the bees.
LaBeille Beekeeping Farm: Beekeeping Season Starts April: Cherry Blossoms Begin to Bloom Around Mount Takao Compared to the center of Tokyo, cherry blossoms also began to bloom around Mount Takao about two weeks later. There are several famous cherry blossom spots around Mount Takao, including a cherry blossom conservation forest where 1,800 cherry trees, including major cherry trees from all over Japan, are planted. The timing of full bloom varies depending on the altitude, and in addition to Somei-Yoshino, there are different types of cherry blossoms such as Yamazakura, allowing bees to collect cherry blossom nectar for a long time. This year, with many warm days, the bees became active and diligently collected nectar from the cherry blossoms.
LaBeille Beekeeping Farm: Cherry Blossom Season May and June: Peak Beekeeping Season In mid-May, the LaBeille beekeeping farm entered the peak of the beekeeping season. The number of bees increased significantly, and they were buzzing energetically around the hives. During this period, new worker bees are continuously born inside the hives, and the worker bees collect pollen and nectar to raise their offspring. The beekeeping team checks not only the internal inspection but also the amount of honey. Bees from Takaosanguchi collect nectar from various flowers, such as cherry blossoms and wisteria in spring, acacia, tochi, and yurino in May, and chestnuts, clover, and mochino in June.
