Leica Camera AG, headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany, will host the 48th Leitz Photographica Auction on June 13 at Leica Welt within Leitz Park. This auction focuses on historically significant cameras and vintage accessories. Notable items include two 'Leica MP' units manufactured in the 1950s for reportage photography, as well as the 'Lumière Cinématographe' developed in the late 19th century. Bidding is available in person, via phone, or online. Additionally, the online-only auction 'Leitz ON' is currently running until June 14. Alexander Sedlak, Managing Director of Leitz Photographica Auction, noted that the online platform allows for the inclusion of items that cannot fit into the main auction due to time constraints. Highlights include the 'Leica MP black paint no. MP-33' and the 'Leica MP chrome no.MP-368' once owned by Tazio Secchiaroli, the photographer who inspired the term 'paparazzi'. Other unique items include the 'Leica Gun' inspired by wildlife photographer Attilio Gatti and the historic 'Lumière Cinématographe'. The main auction begins on June 13 at 11:00 AM (CEST).
