Liquor Mountain Holds Joint "Craft Beer Academy" with Yo-Ho Brewing, Kirin Beer, and Nagahama Roman Beer as Instructors

Liquor Mountain Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto City), which operates a chain of 205 liquor specialty stores nationwide, held an in-house seminar "Craft Beer Academy" on July 6, 2026 (Mon) at the Liquor Mountain Kyoto Headquarters LM Lounge, with Yo-Ho Brewing Co., Ltd., Kirin Brewery Company, Limited, and Nagahama Roman Beer Co., Ltd. as instructors.

<HR> Craft Beer Basic Knowledge

First, we learned about the history of craft beer, basic ingredients, and the characteristics of diverse beer styles found worldwide. Solidifying the fundamentals in our minds made for a meaningful time that deepened our product knowledge.

<1st Period, 2nd Period, 3rd Period> Lectures and Tastings by Each Brewery

After learning the basics, we moved on to practical lectures using the main products from each brewery, which are also handled at Liquor Mountain stores. We learned about the origins and historical backgrounds of each brewery, and through tasting, we experienced the differences in "color," "aroma," and "flavor" of each beer with our five senses. This not only improved our product knowledge but also provided valuable learning that allows us to make more specific recommendations to customers in-store as a real experience.

<4th Period, After School> Workshop & Social Gathering

In the workshop, based on the series of lectures, we selected brands that suited our preferences from a wide variety of styles and found our favorite "recommended beers." During the subsequent social gathering, we exchanged opinions on the reasons for our "likes" and shared their appeal. By touching upon each other's sensibilities, we gained a deep understanding of the diversity and trends in preferences, providing a valuable opportunity to acquire "crucial insights for drawing out customers' latent needs" that will serve as a foundation for real customer service at the store.

To recommend the perfect bottle to a customer, it is important not only to have knowledge of specifications but also to deeply understand the product's appeal. By sharing the reasons for our "likes" among staff, we can recognize the multifaceted charm of a single product and provide products that match the diverse needs of our customers.
