Lion Hygiene and Yushiro Jointly Develop Mold Prevention Agent for the Ready-to-Eat Food Sector

Lion Hygiene Co., Ltd. (President: Takayuki Kurokawa) has partnered with Yushiro Co., Ltd. (President: Masanori Arisaka) to develop 'LION Mold Prevention Agent' for use on ceilings, walls, and floors in food processing plants and central kitchens. The product is scheduled for launch this summer.

### Development Background Lion Hygiene has long supplied various detergents to food manufacturers, convenience store daily suppliers, central kitchens of restaurant chains, and supermarket process centers. However, mold growth in areas handling large amounts of food and water has remained a persistent challenge. There was a strong market demand for a product that not only removes mold but also maintains cleanliness with high safety and long-lasting efficacy. Traditional photocatalytic technologies often require UV light, which limits their effectiveness indoors. Additionally, maintaining effectiveness despite dirt accumulation was a key hurdle. This led to the need for a mold prevention solution optimized for the ready-to-eat food sector.

### About LION Mold Prevention Agent The newly developed agent utilizes Yushiro's proprietary patented technology—a photocatalyst primarily composed of Vitamin B2 that reacts to indoor LED and fluorescent lighting. This allows it to exert significant anti-mold effects even in indoor environments. The ethanol-based formula ensures even application and ease of use, enabling food factory employees to apply it themselves without specialized skills. All ingredients are food-grade or usable as food additives, ensuring worker safety. Furthermore, its water-soluble nature makes it compatible with organic food stains, maintaining high durability and effectiveness even on soiled surfaces.

### Partnership with Yushiro In this joint development, Lion Hygiene gathered and analyzed customer needs and provided on-site explanations, while Yushiro handled product development using its Vitamin B2-based photocatalytic patent (Patent No. 6950067). This collaboration resulted in a highly original product optimized for the food processing field.

### Future Outlook The product will be showcased at 'FOOMA JAPAN 2026,' a general exhibition for food manufacturing, held from June 2 to 5, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. Lion Hygiene aims to continue providing optimal cleaning solutions that enhance efficiency and product quality by deeply understanding the characteristics of dirt, bacteria, and mold.
