Due to Popular Demand, the Series Returns! Akiko Grace Presents an Intimate Jazz Piano World at 'JAZZ DAY'

The 'JAZZ DAY' concert, hosted by the Yokohama City Aoba Ward Citizens' Cultural Center Sunheart, will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Sunheart Hall (5F, Joynest Terrace 3, 1-3 Futamatagawa, Aoba Ward, Yokohama City – formerly Futamatagawa Life Building).

Due to its success last year, 'JAZZ DAY' has been officially launched as a recurring series.

While last year's edition focused on jazz standards accessible to beginners, this year's concert will feature Akiko Grace, offering audiences a more immersive and authentic jazz experience.

Akiko Grace (Pianist, Composer)

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. Began playing piano at age 3 under the influence of her pianist mother. Graduated from the Department of Musicology at Tokyo University of the Arts and the Piano Performance Department at Berklee College of Music. Started performing live in Boston and New York during her studies. Debuted in 2002 with 'From New York' as the first Japanese artist signed to the SAVOY label. Has recorded in New York, Oslo, and Tokyo, releasing 12 leader albums through Nippon Columbia. Collaborated with Gary Peacock, Larry Grenadier, Ron Carter, Bill Stewart, Jon Christensen, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Active in concerts worldwide. Awarded the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Excellence Prize (Record Category), Jazz Disk Grand Prize Japan Jazz Award, and Music Pen Club Best Performance Award (Domestic Category). Currently active in solo, duo, and trio performances, as well as recording piano suites, collaborating with visual artists, composing film scores, CM music, and commissioned works.

[Yokohama JAZZ PROMENADE]

Launched in 1993 as a signature autumn event in Yokohama.

Under the slogan 'The entire city as a stage,' the event leverages Yokohama's history, culture, and urban landscape, attracting over 100,000 participants annually.

Nearly 300 'Yokohama Jazz Crew' (citizen volunteers) contribute to event preparation and operations, forming the backbone of the Yokohama JAZZ PROMENADE.
