The Summer Concert 2026 'Tenshu Monogatari,' hosted by Yamato City Ballet, will take place on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Yamato Performing Arts Hall (1-8-1 Yamato-minami, Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Sirius 1st floor). Tickets are currently on sale through Confetti.

Yamato City Ballet will perform the world premiere of an original dance production based on Izumi Kyoka's masterpiece 'Tenshu Monogatari.' Set in the watchtower of Shirasagi Castle, the story follows the love between Princess Tomihime, who lives in a supernatural realm, and Toshinosuke, a human. The production takes on this representative work of Kyoka literature, blending supernatural fantasy and pure love through the unique physical expression of ballet.

Princess Tomihime will be played in a double cast by Futaba Ishizaki (matinee), who is active with the Hamburg Ballet, and veteran Miwa Honda (soiree), a former principal dancer at the New National Theatre Ballet. Toshinosuke will be played by Ken Nakagawa.

Director and choreographer Harumi Takeuchi, who emphasizes the emotions and essence that can only be conveyed through wordless ballet, says, 'I want to realize the clearly distinct worldviews of the beautiful supernatural beings in the watchtower and the humans on the ground by entrusting it to the power of the dancers' movements.'

Comprehensive director Kiyomi Maeda expressed her enthusiasm, stating, 'We are taking on the difficult challenge of expressing a world of invisible forces and passion through dance.'
