New Outdoor Festival LOOOP to Modernize Traditional Bon Odori in Hakodate in July 2026

The LOOOP Executive Committee (Secretariat: Hakodate, Hokkaido; Executive Chair: Takuma Hayano) will host the LOOOP outdoor festival on July 25 and 26, 2026, at Green Island in Hakodate. The event aims to modernize traditional Bon Odori to preserve the culture for the next generation. To support this initiative, a crowdfunding project began on CAMPFIRE on May 30, 2026, targeting 3 million yen for event operations. Major highlights include: 1) Music LIVE & Play Park featuring artists like SHINICHI OSAWA and SPECIAL OTHERS ACOUSTIC, alongside a 3on3 basketball tournament and family areas; 2) Giant Market with over 50 local and national vendors like White Seed, HIGUMA Doughnuts, and Kitade Tacos; 3) New-Style Bon Odori with live band music and DJ sets, introducing an original custom dance. Tickets are priced at 1,000 yen for Day 1 (1,500 yen door), 3,000 yen for Day 2 (3,500 yen door), and 3,500 yen for a two-day pass (4,500 yen door). Admission is free for junior high students and younger, and the Bon Odori session after 18:00 is free for all.
