Looop Inc. has decided to build a high-voltage grid-scale battery storage plant in Sekikawa Village, Niigata. This will be Looop's first grid-scale battery storage plant to be developed through a one-stop process, covering everything from land acquisition to design, procurement, and construction. While the introduction of renewable energy is accelerating in Japan toward the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, 'output control' when power generation exceeds demand has become a challenge. Consequently, there is growing expectation for 'grid-scale battery storage plants' that connect directly to the power grid to adjust the supply-demand balance. Construction of this plant is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026, with operations starting in December of the same year. Looop will continue to strengthen its one-stop business model to optimize development processes and contribute to the realization of an energy-free society.
