Every year in Kyoto, the "Gozan Okuribi" (Five Mountains Fire Festival) lights up the summer night on August 16th as a traditional event to mark the end of Obon. The Dōdō district, where The Chapter Kyoto Tribute Portfolio Hotel is located, hosts a Bon Odori (Japanese traditional dance) festival on the same day, bustling with local people while viewing the "Daimonji Okuribi" on Mt. Daimonji in Sakyo Ward.

Profile of Masashi Sakuma

After spending nearly 10 years in the UK, he experienced world-class cocktail culture at various bars and restaurants, including ROKA, and honed his skills. Upon returning to Japan, he joined the "Kyoto Distillery," which produces the Kyoto dry gin "KI NO BI," as a Distiller. After three years of gin distillation and manufacturing, he was appointed Manager of KI NO BI HOUSE, and subsequently became the Global Ambassador, dedicating himself to promoting KI NO BI through seminars and events in over 10 countries, not only in Japan. He is also responsible for the global drink strategy of KI NO BI, which is shipped to over 50 countries worldwide, pursuing the potential of KI NO BI through diverse approaches such as cocktails and pairings.
