【About Meiji Kinenkan】

https://www.meijikinenkan.gr.jp/

The main building of Meiji Kinenkan was completed in 1881 (Meiji 14) as the 'Akasaka Temporary Imperial Palace Dining Hall' at the site of the current State Guest House. In 1888 (Meiji 21), it hosted the imperial conference for deliberating the draft of the 'Meiji Constitution,' with Emperor Meiji attending every session. Due to this historical significance, the main building is also known as the 'Constitution Memorial Hall.'

After relocation, it has served as a venue for nationally and socially significant events, including the 30th anniversary of the Constitution's promulgation, the 50th anniversary of the Imperial Rescript on Education, general meetings of the Japanese Red Cross Society and Aikoku Fujinkai, and commemorative events by the Ji-Sei-Kai.

In 1947 (Showa 22), it opened as a comprehensive wedding hall under the name 'Meiji Kinenkan,' celebrating the new beginnings of over 230,000 couples. Today, beyond weddings, it is used for MICE events such as parties and conferences, commemorative celebrations, life ceremonies, and dining at its restaurant and kaiseki ryotei.

In 2020 (Reiwa 2), the historical and architectural value of the main building was recognized, and it was designated as a Tokyo Tangible Cultural Property (building).
