MNTSQ, the provider of the contract lifecycle management platform 'MNTSQ CLM', announced that its CEO, Ryuhei Itaya, received the 'Legal Intrapreneur' award at the Financial Times' Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2026. Itaya is the only Japanese individual to receive this award this year.
His initiatives were also featured in the Financial Times article, 'Japanese text opens new legal tech chapter' (by Harriet Arnold, published May 15, 2026).
About the 'Innovative Lawyers Awards' The 'Innovative Lawyers Awards', hosted by the Financial Times, is a prestigious program in the legal profession that recognizes innovative initiatives by law firms, corporate legal departments, and individuals across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The Asia-Pacific awards ceremony took place in Hong Kong in May 2026, where Itaya was selected for the 'Legal Intrapreneur' award from five candidates.
Why he was awarded 'Legal Intrapreneur' Since its inception, MNTSQ has maintained a close partnership with Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, receiving initial investment from the firm. By establishing partnerships with two additional firms, three of Japan's 'Big Four' law firms now participate in the company's business. MNTSQ’s flagship service, 'MNTSQ CLM', which combines the practical expertise of these top law firms with proprietary AI technology, has been adopted by 41 of Japan's top 100 companies by revenue, representing over 40% of the market. This contribution was a key factor in the recognition.
Commenting on the award, Itaya stated, 'Encouraged by this honor, I will continue to bridge legal practice, corporate management, and AI technology, driving the evolution of the entire contract domain.'
