Profile of Takeshi Yoro

Born in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1937 (Showa 12). Anatomist. Graduated from the University of Tokyo School of Medicine. Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. Received the Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities in 1989 for 'Karada no Mikata' (How to See the Body). His 2003 book 'Baka no Kabe' became a bestseller and received the Words of the Year award and the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award Special Prize. Other numerous works include 'Yui-ron' (Brain Only Theory), 'Yuigon.' (Last Will.), and 'Jinsei no Kabe' (The Wall of Life). He is also known as a passionate entomologist and established the Insect Monument at Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura, where he holds a memorial service annually.
