On the evening of June 1, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes in and around Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre, South Lebanon, a facility supported by Doctors Without Borders (MSF). According to the Ministry of Health, the attack has so far killed four people and injured 127, of whom 39 were hospital staff. Four of the injured staff are in critical condition and remain in intensive care. Body recovery efforts from the rubble continue, and the total number of casualties is expected to rise.

MSF strongly condemns this attack and urges the immediate protection of civilians, medical staff, and healthcare facilities, as well as the preservation of people's access to medical care.

### Ongoing Damage to Hospital Infrastructure

The airstrikes caused severe damage to Jabal Amel Hospital’s inpatient wards, radiology department, and intensive care unit. A wall of the operating room was heavily damaged, leaving a large hole, and the medical team urgently transferred half of the patients remaining in the intensive care unit to other wards for safety.

The previous day in Tyre, Hiram Hospital, also supported by MSF, was hit by an Israeli airstrike, injuring 13 medical staff according to the Ministry of Health. These attacks occurred amidst an escalation of violence over the past several days. Following an Israeli evacuation order for the entire southern region up to the Zahrani River on May 31, the southern suburbs of Beirut were again subjected to evacuation orders on June 1.

Omar Ebeid, MSF’s Project Coordinator in South Lebanon, stated:

"These repeated attacks demonstrate a significant failure to protect medical activities. The protection of civilians, medical staff, and healthcare facilities, and the safeguarding of people's access to medical care, are now urgently required."
